Chart Series Beer Stein
Chart Series Beer Stein
First created for the 2016 "Salad Days" Stein Sale at Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts in Newcastle, Maine, this 16oz+ beer stein comfortably holds a pint of your favorite brew, with room for a nice head. Whether you're a craft brew aficionado or a die hard PBR fan, our handmade stein featuring Maine navigational charts will take your beer experience up a few notches. Cheers!
Each stein is marked with a section of Maine nautical chart, both around the exterior and on the base. These charts are hand screen printed in ceramics ink, then applied and fired directly on to the bare porcelain or glazed surface. While they are a permanent part of the stein, we recommend handwashing to avoid potential wear of the chart decals over long term dishwasher use.
The Chart Series' colors and imagery speak to the artist's love for his home state. From a young age Austin P. Smith learned to navigate the waters of Maine's beautiful rocky coastline, and was struck by the elaborate maze of islands that make this area so unique. No two Chart Steins are alike, meaning that each one is like an exploration, hinting at undiscovered places, or conjuring memories of familiar ones. When making these steins in the studio, we still notice new details of these charts we know so well.
